Two-Phase Commit
A distributed transaction protocol that coordinates multiple participants through a prepare phase and a commit phase, ensuring the atomicity of distributed transactions.
Timeline (last 90 days)
External APIs generally do not support two-phase commit, so the sandbox needs to approximate transaction semantics through recording, simulation or compensating operations.
The Saga pattern differs from two-phase commit (2PC) in that it does not require resource locking, making it more suitable for cross-service scenarios involving external APIs, but it can only guarantee eventual consistency, and the compensating actions themselves must also be idempotent.
An atomic transaction requires a set of database operations to either all succeed or all roll back, and typical implementations rely on the ACID properties of relational databases; in distributed environments, two-phase commit (2PC) or the Saga pattern must also be introduced to coordinate cross-service transactions.
Workarounds for the tool-call side-effect problem include: executing candidates in a sandbox or transaction and committing after confirmation, or abstracting side-effecting actions into rollback-capable two-phase operations.
The two-phase dry-run validation borrows the idea of two-phase commit (2PC) from the database field; the first phase is the simulation phase that validates permissions and dependencies, and the second phase is the commit phase that performs the actual state changes
分布式系统中部分失败的解决模式包括两阶段提交(2PC)、Saga模式和事件溯源(Event Sourcing)
两阶段提交保证强一致但牺牲可用性,Saga模式通过补偿事务实现最终一致
