MFi Program

A licensing and certification mechanism established by Apple for accessories. By licensing interface specifications and authentication chips to third-party manufacturers, it ensures that accessories are compatible with Apple devices. Through this program Apple retains control over admission to the accessory ecosystem and collects licensing royalties from participating manufacturers.
