Operational Transformation

Operational Transformation (OT) is a concurrency control technique for real-time collaborative editing. It maintains consistency across multiple users editing a shared document by transforming concurrent operations against one another, so that each operation is applied in a form that reflects the effects of the operations it did not originally account for. OT underpins many collaborative editing systems and addresses conflicting edits without requiring locking of the shared content.
