Clifford Nass
Clifford Nass (1958–2013) was an American sociologist and communication scholar, and a professor at Stanford University. He was a prominent researcher in human-computer interaction and, together with Byron Reeves, proposed the Computers Are Social Actors (CASA) theory, which demonstrates that humans unconsciously apply social rules and emotional responses to computers and media. His research spanned media equation theory, voice interface design, and multitasking, and had lasting influence on human-computer interaction, communication studies, and interface design.
