Half-Duplex
A mode of communication in which the two parties cannot send and receive signals simultaneously. In voice AI, half-duplex systems use a strictly serial pipeline of voice activity detection, recognition, generation and synthesis, so user pauses or inserted filler words are easily misjudged as the end of an utterance.
