Home Camera
A built-in camera module that Amazon integrated into the Echo Studio smart speaker for monitoring rooms in the home and visual interaction such as showing items to Alexa, with planned support for Fire TV video calls.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Amazon launched the new Echo Studio smart speaker with Home Camera, which has a built-in camera.
The Home Camera of the new Echo Studio has three use cases: monitoring the room when away from home, showing objects to Alexa, and future support for Fire TV video calls.
Amazon bringing Home Camera to the screenless Echo Studio means the device must complete the closed loop of shooting, recognition and voice playback without screen feedback.
Amazon's naming of Home Camera suggests that it is not merely an add-on feature of the speaker, but part of the home camera product line.
Parameters such as the camera's resolution, field of view and night vision capability have not yet been announced; the specific launch time of the video call feature is also unclear; and whether privacy protection measures (such as a physical shutter) exist is likewise unknown.
