make
make is a widely used build automation tool, originally developed by Stuart Feldman at Bell Labs in 1976. It reads a configuration file called a Makefile and automatically determines which targets need to be recompiled or executed based on file dependency relationships and timestamps, enabling efficient management of software build processes. make provides built-in support for C/C++ projects and is also applicable to other programming languages and general task automation, making it one of the most fundamental build tools in Unix/Linux environments.
