NVIDIA NIM
An inference microservices platform introduced by NVIDIA that enables developers to deploy large models as callable API endpoints. It provides standardized interfaces compatible with the OpenAI format and a model catalog marketplace, reducing the cost and complexity of building inference infrastructure.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The workflow demonstrated in the video consists of four Jupyter Notebooks, covering in order data preparation and geometric sampling, surrogate model training, model export and NIM packaging, and inference and result comparison.
NVIDIA offers inference microservice components such as NIM, packaging model deployment as standardized container interfaces.
The project is fully open source, with code hosted in the author's repository and installers available for download in the releases section; on first launch, users need to select a provider for Agent mode (such as Gemini, NVIDIA NIM, or Ollama).
9router provides a three-tier automatic fallback mechanism: Tier 1 is subscriptions (such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot), Tier 2 is low-cost Providers (such as GLM, MiniMax, Kimi), and Tier 3 is free Providers (such as Kiro, OpenCode Free, Vertex, NVIDIA NIM), automatically jumping to the next tier when one tier's quota is exhausted.
The free Providers that 9router supports connecting to include OpenCode Free (no authentication required), Kiro AI (OAuth, about 50 quota per month, supporting Claude 4.5, GLM-5, MiniMax), Vertex AI (OAuth, $300 credit for new GCP accounts), NVIDIA NIM (API Key), and Cloudflare Workers AI (API Key).
Vendors such as Gemini, Groq, NVIDIA NIM, OpenRouter, Cloudflare Workers AI and Cerebras provide OpenAI-compatible chat format endpoints.
An NVIDIA moderator replied on the developer forum that there is no official way to bypass the rate limit or get a rate limit increase at the same tier, and recommended paying and deploying models through NVIDIA NIM or NVIDIA Build.
Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 is now available on the NVIDIA NIM API catalog; developers can call it for free through an OpenAI-compatible interface, which supports multimodality, streaming output, and reasoning intensity settings.
Using optimized inference engines such as NVIDIA NIM and TensorRT-LLM can yield several times the performance improvement on the same hardware.
FCC's Tiered Routing feature allows different Providers to be specified for OPUS, SONNET, and HAIKU respectively — for example, OPUS routed through NVIDIA NIM, SONNET using the OpenRouter free tier, and HAIKU running on a local LM Studio instance with Qwen3 Coder.
