Sidechain Compression
A standard audio engineering technique used in broadcast, podcasting, and post-production. The compressor monitors a trigger signal, such as a vocal track, and automatically applies gain reduction to background music when that signal exceeds a defined threshold. Multiband variants process the frequency spectrum in segments to achieve a more natural sound.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Ducking is implemented through sidechain compression, letting the background music track detect the voice track's level and automatically attenuate its volume, then smoothly restore it after the voice stops.
The project's background music uses multi-band sidechain compression technology, automatically lowering the background music volume when a voice is active and restoring it after the voice ends.
