Strands Agents
An open-source agent orchestration framework introduced by AWS that adopts a model-driven design philosophy, in which a large language model dynamically determines the sequence of tool invocations. It supports the construction of multi-agent collaborative systems and is applicable to scenarios such as complex automated operations and maintenance.

Strands Agents is a lightweight Agent framework open-sourced by AWS in 2025, adopting a model-driven rather than process-orchestration design philosophy.
When the Agent receives a compound request, it triggers multiple rounds of a ReAct-style loop: the model first outputs its first round of reasoning to determine that weather data is needed, issues a call request for weather_tool(city="Bangalore"), and after the SDK executes that function it feeds the result back to the model to continue reasoning.
Pexafy's official documentation lists tested configurations for the OpenAI Agents SDK, Claude Agent SDK, Google ADK, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, Mastra and Strands Agents.
The core design of Orion AI is that no agent directly calls another agent; all handoffs are handled by a state machine managed by Strands Agents, in order to avoid circular dependencies and state conflicts.
Orion AI was built by a three-person team in six months using Amazon Bedrock and the Strands Agents framework.
Cornerstone OnDemand built a multi-agent system called Orion AI on top of Amazon Bedrock and Strands Agents.
An agent's self-correction capability within a runtime environment is constrained by the reasoning quality of the underlying large model.

65%UnverifiedThe model-driven approach may lack sufficient controllability in complex business scenarios, and fully relying on the model to make autonomous decisions may lead to unpredictable behavior.
