Trust Boundary
A concept in AI security describing the boundaries across which data flows in an AI programming workflow, including transitions through model endpoints, remote servers, and logging systems. Each boundary represents a different set of potential data readers and associated leakage risks.

Moving model requests from the sandbox back to the host while keeping file and shell operations in the sandbox is a redrawing of the trust boundary: model calls and credentials belong to the trusted domain, and arbitrary code execution belongs to the isolated domain.
The reliability of a computer-assisted proof depends on the correctness of implementation details, and the validity of the proof depends on the consistency between the code logic and the formal description.
A trust boundary refers to the division in a system by which different components are granted different permissions and scopes of information access, and it is one of the core criteria for judging in a multi-agent architecture whether multiple agents are truly needed.
Multi-agent coordination is worth adopting only when there are tasks that genuinely require different system prompts, different tool sets, or different trust boundaries.
In agent scenarios, the trust boundary is extended to mean "the scope within which the agent is allowed to act autonomously," such as a read-only repository, an isolated sandbox branch, a non-production environment, or a restricted cloud resource quota; actions beyond the boundary must trigger human approval.
Teams should demarcate the trust boundary in writing before drafting any prompt, otherwise technical sanitization measures cannot substitute for contractual and compliance determinations.
Position B advocates keeping all draft generation on local models within the team's trust boundary, using external servers only as execution witnesses loading synthetic row data.
A trust boundary refers to the boundary within which data and instructions in a system can flow freely without violating security or contractual constraints; outside the boundary, they are subject to the logging, retention policies, and terms of hosting models, third-party servers, or other organizations.
When internal interfaces are accidentally exposed to the public internet, or credentials that should be kept secret are hardcoded in front-end code, the trust boundary is broken, and attackers can impersonate a trusted internal caller to bypass security checks.
A trust boundary is a fundamental concept in security architecture, referring to the dividing line between regions of different trust levels in a system, such as between the browser and the server, or between the external network and internal services.
