MLP
The most fundamental fully connected feedforward neural network architecture, composed of an input layer, one or more hidden layers, and an output layer. It is trained using the backpropagation algorithm and serves as one of the foundational models in deep learning.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Through controlled experiments (the same MLP architecture, the same hyperparameter search space, and the same number of training epochs, with only the input representation differing), the paper shows that Assur-derived features have a geometric-mean 1.8x advantage in sample efficiency, covering training budgets from 50 to 10,000 mechanisms.
An MLP is formed by stacking fully connected layers and can theoretically approximate continuous functions to arbitrary precision (universal approximation theorem), but training typically relies on large numbers of iterations and careful hyperparameter tuning, and the parameter count grows rapidly with hidden layer width.
The observation that KS3 performs on par with MLP on LLM tasks comes from a single source and still requires more independent replication.
An independent researcher recently posted a demo video on Reddit comparing the performance of his proposed K-Splanifolds version 3 (KS3) against a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) in fitting a 4D Mandelbulb fractal.
On tasks such as noise removal, geometric fitting and financial forecasting, KS3 converges noticeably faster than MLP; on large language model (LLM)-related tasks, the two perform about the same.
KS3 converges significantly faster than MLP under gradient descent on random samples, while GPU inference latency is roughly on par with MLP.
The experiment trains a small MLP on a modular addition task modulo 97, with the training set making up only 35%, using full-batch training for a total of 20k steps.
An MLP consists of stacked layers of linear transformations combined with nonlinear activation functions, and exploits almost no structure of the input.
On the three benchmarks UNSW-NB15, CIC-IDS2017, and EMBER2024, the paper compares against calibrated XGBoost, Random-Forest, MLP, and Kitsune, and measures a two-stage cascade of "Suricata (52,674 Emerging-Threats rules) → VX-One" running over five days on CIC-IDS2017.
Leagues and tours such as MLP (Major League Pickleball) have gradually been established, forming a complete industry chain of equipment, court operations, training, and event organization.

50%UnverifiedUnlike MLPs, which place fixed nonlinear activation functions at the nodes and weights on the edges, KANs place learnable spline functions (usually B-splines) on the edges, and the nodes only perform summation.
50%UnverifiedThe Kolmogorov-Arnold Geometry (KAG) framework reveals the internal computational structure of a network by analyzing the local response of hidden layers to input changes—that is, the minors of the Jacobian matrix.

50%UnverifiedThe probe is a lightweight classifier, usually a linear layer or a small MLP, which during training takes the activation vector of a certain layer of the model as input and outputs a score for whether the target behavior exists, without modifying the weights of the underlying large model.
50%UnverifiedKAN places learnable activation functions on the edges (connections) of the network, whereas traditional MLPs use fixed activation functions at nodes and learnable weights on edges.
