Android CLI
Android CLI is an official Google command-line toolset for Android development, written in Rust. It consolidates various scattered tools commonly used in Android development workflows, providing developers with a unified command-line interface that supports device management, application debugging, and build assistance tasks, with the goal of improving consistency and efficiency in Android development.

In the Sideline app, after the team integrated Firebase Crashlytics, they found an ANR occurring on a certain foldable device that could not be reproduced on the emulator; using Android CLI's device streaming capability, the Agent connected on its own to the problem device to verify the fix, ultimately fixing it with two lines of code and resolving the issue in the 1.0 build.
Android CLI is Google's new command-line tool for interfacing with various Android tools (such as the SDK manager, launching emulators, and connecting to backends like Crashlytics); it is not itself an AI product and can be used with any Agent.
There is an Android skill installable via the Android CLI for auditing whether an app complies with Google Play policies, covering aspects such as permissions, account deletion and data safety.
Security skills are used together with the Android CLI, require no additional configuration or rules, and can be directly asked to "audit intent security"; the output includes the problematic code, the important parts and a fix, and can select a compatible fix based on minSdk.
The old screenshot testing approach required the Agent to only take screenshots of a running application, necessitating that the app first be navigated to the exact state to be tested.
Android CLI is a command-line tool launched by Google that provides command-line access to Android Studio features, such as managing emulators and reading the layout structure of the current application.
Android CLI has added the ability to export Compose previews directly as real image files.
Using this feature requires first running android update to update the CLI, then re-running android init in the repository to update the bundled Agent skills, and requires the latest stable version of Android Studio (Quail version in the video).
In a real test, the Agent rendered two images and produced a detailed report in under one minute, identifying multiple discrepancies including a missing login entry point, missing placeholder text in the password field, and inconsistent main button text (Figma reads "sign up" while the app reads "register").
The Agent missed one layout discrepancy: the button was actually aligned to the bottom of the form rather than the bottom of the screen.
